Default Swiftech 350 Mod

I want to mod my 350 into a 355. Martin showed me a pic of the way to do this:

I'm looking at getting a soldering iron from mootsfox. I heard I need solder, flux, and brass wool(which is supposedly superior to a sponge). Are there any good local places to get these, or am I limited to online stores? Also, is there anything else I'll need?

You can usually pick up a good soldering iron, flux, solder, etc. at any Radioshack or hardware store(Menards, Ace, etc.). If you've never worked with a soldering iron/gun before, you may want to pick up some wire and just practice on it until you get comfortable. I don't know much about doing this mod, as I don't own it, but I would only suggest trying it if you understand that it will probably void your warranty, and if anything were to go wrong, you are pretty much stuck with a broken piece of hardware.

EDIT: If you would rather do the online method, here's the link to the sticky which has links to reliable, inexpensive dealers. http://www.overclock.net/general-vol...-supplies.html

I found out that I probably can't mod it. It's the layout of my pcb that's a tad different. What I wanna do is start working on basic circuits and stuff for fun. Would radioshack have pcb's I could work with?

Yeah, radioshack will have a few blank boards. Try creating a simple circuit like a fan controller or similar first.

Will radioshack have the stuff to make a fan controller?

Due to the layout of my pcb, I doubt this mod is possible. Here's a pic:

I went to radioshack and got me a few things. A soldering iron station with a 20w/40w soldering iron, some solder, 4 red led's, and a pcb. The led's are rated for 3v, so I figure I can run 4 off of the 12v rail of a molex connector. I'm afraid that a psu will provide these leds too much amperage. Here are the specs:
Power dissipation: 45mW
Foward current: 15mA max.

Optoelectric characteristics (at 20m)
Foward voltage: 3.0V
Luminou intensity: 2.5mcd
Peak wave length: 700nm

That's off the back of the package of the led's.

I used a led calculator and it said:

I'm unsure about the safe pick thing with wattage. The safe pick would be a 3/40W resistor. Do you think I could get a 200 ohm 3/40W resistor at radioshack?
