Hey new to this site and newly interested in computers. Got fed up with old crappy computer and just built new computer myself. Put 8gb of Patriot Viper Series pc6400 800mhz DDR2 RAM in it. Was having a lot of freezing / locking up issues and was told to try mem test. Got like 1500 errors and have read that voltage may be the culprit.
__________________In BIOS I found "DDR Voltage". It was on auto setting which default was 1.8 volts. My RAM states 2.1-2.2 volts ideal. Is this in fact the place where I change the voltage and if it is will increasing it effect other components / systems in my computer? Thanks in advance Brunswick

Yes, if you see no other "memory voltage" option then that is the one.
Also, test each stick of RAM with memtest individually.

how exactly do I test each stick of RAM individually? Is that an option in the settings or do I have to physically have to remove the other sticks? Im hoping its the first. Thanks for the reply.

With that much memory you will need to boost the NB or MCH voltage for the memory controller to cope with the amount of addressing required to use 8GB's.
