Default How to buy Power Supplie Unit?

If I want to buy a new PSU, how do I know how much volt is enough and what is too low. How to count voltages of all your hardwares?

You pretty much just go with an educated guess, fill out your system specs.

To calculate your power supply needs, use this calculator.

Also, buy from a reputable brand. Raidmax is going to kill your hardware, Corsair will not.

When purchasing a PSU pay close attention to amp not watts. Mostly, amps on the 12v rail(s). Corsair make very nice PSUs. I love mine.

lol er..
you need to have enough watts to handle your videocards and if you have multiple drives. after you figure out what wattage you need than fine a decent cpu with the most amps on the 12v rails. the more the merrier ;]. i wanna say like 30 at least

Yes, you do need to be a little concerned about watts, but not paying attention to amps could hurt you. I see to many ppl asking things like "will a 600w PSU be enough for this setup?" Others could tell them yes then the person goes out and buys a cheap 600w PSU with only 18 amps on the 12v rail. Later the PSU dies and the my think they should have bought a larger PSU. When if fact they may have needed something with a larger 12v rail. This is why I say don't worry about watts. Worry about amp. Of coarse, your not going to find a 300w PSU with 30 amps on the 12v rail.
