Anyone know a way to do this rather easily, or a place that sells transformers that can? I need to run something that requires 12vac, off my psu. I've googled all morning and asked other places to no avail. best answer i got so far was to crack open my wall wart, and keep the internals and mount them inside the psu, and solder it somehow to the incoming 120v.

You can use a 555 timer (a very cheap and common IC) as a low frequency oscillator. Add a couple of capacitors, resistors, and transistors, and you should have something that does the job, but I'm not positive that it will source the current that you may need. It would be helpful if I knew what you are trying to power. I don't have any time to look for a schematic right now, but you can probably google it yourself. The 555 timer is extremely versatile, and is used in TONS of different projects.

Goto Radio Shack and get a 12vdc to 12vac BRIDGE RECTIFIER.
Its about 3/4 x 3/4 of an inch in size and it has spade connections on it.

NO! a rectifier can only go from AC to DC, he is trying to go the other way around. [which is much harder] I would recomend mounting a new transformer inside the case, and hooking it up to the 120V AC

You can use a inverter to change it to AC.

I vote for the wall wart. Its the cheapest and easiest, just solder the tranformer primary to the mains within the PSU and its running!

theres a few ways you can do this but the easiest in my opinion is just to get a 120vac to 12vac adapter and if you are really keen on having it rin on startup then use a relay from one of the ide sockets (forget what their called) this will save you allot of time and will save load on your psu for more important things like over clocking and coffee warmers
