Hello all, I am new here, I have a problem maybe one of you might have an answere.
I recently installed a BFG 6600 OC video card along with a Antec truepower 2 480 watt power supply. Since then I am getting wavey ghost like lines swirling about my monitor. The lines flicker like a 60 cycle hum. My specs: windows xp, AMD xp 2500+ 1.47 ghz processor, 1.25 gb ram, asus A7V8X-X MB, creative sound audigy LS, and BFG 6600 oc VC. I contacted BFG with this problem, all they said was download bios and chipset updates and video card updates. I am a little nervous about flashing the bios (never done it before) and would like to try less drastic measures before messing with the bios. any help would be appreciated. |

the monitor is a CRT (MAG inovision) and it is only about a year old. I tried going through the lower settings but the flickering just gets worse. My tower is under the desk, I even tried lining the bottom of the desk with 2 layers of heavy foil thinking it might me electrical leakage from the power supply, maybe a goofy move but I am willing to try anything. Do you think updating the bios could make a difference? I don't see how it would, seems more like a physical problem over software.

On the rear of the monitor it will tell you what the max freq is 50/60hz of in my case 100hz which is so cool.

Thanks for your reply, no there is not any other electrical things close by, yes I have speakers but I have had the same set up before the new video card and there was no problem, I also tested the wall socket with a multi meter and the ground is good. I think I am going to have to take the plunge and try to flash and update the bios...wish me luck.

Something is wrong with the PSU. No problem before card he says...installed PSU sametime...PSU is bad most likely. Make sure all your connections are secure and that the wall outlet is grounded (not sure you have the tools to do that as you need a 120V tester or a DMM). Put your old PSU back in if you have it still and see if it goes away with the new GPU in.
