Default cables and colors...

just wondering..

red is 5Volt,
yellow 12Volt,
black is ground, right?

What are the cables of a normal cooler (80 or 120mm) for?
there's black, red and yellow.. I always thought the yellow one
is to let the MB know how fast the cooler's going.

but is a cooler running on 5V or on 12V??

Red on the fan is normally 12V (unlike a molex connector where it's 5V) and black is ground.
True, yellow on the fan is for RPM monitoring (unlike a molex connector where it's 12V).

Some people undervolt their fans to make them less noisy. It's called the 7 Volts trick... check it out here.

thx! just needed to know that since I'm gonna add some LED's to a couple of older fans.
