I game a few hours every day. When i game my ppd drops to 7k. You could do that too. I play TF2. I am not sure how tasking red fraction is though.

Well Red Faction calls for a dual 3.2 and a Nvidia 8800. I have a Q6600 overclocked to 3.0 when I game only and 2 gtx 285's overclocked.

I have to force v-sync because the game has a lot of shuttering. With v-sync on Triple Buffering on and everything maxed out the game runs very smooth.
To be honest this is one of the smoothest running games that I have played on the pc in a really long time. When I bought the game I was expecting it to run like Crysis.

I dont understand why everyone judges their pc by Crysis. Crysis is the worst optimized game ever. IMO the game should be able to run a lot smoother. I think it takes a super machine to get 35 fps in Crysis due to poor engineering.
Also I dont understand why people want 60 fps because the human eye can only see up to 30 fps. I hear stuff like I will not play crysis till I can run it 60 fps what idiots.

Any way back to the subject at hand. I never tried to game and fold at the same time. I just figured the game would not run smooth If I were to fold and game at same time. I will give it a shot.

I fold 24/7 but i play TF2 obsessively too. Sure it slows down a LITTLE bit but nothing to the point of altering the game experience...i don't mind.

Well I tried to play Red Faction and Fold I used one 285 to fold and the other one to game. Did not turn out so good actually terrible I probably got somewhere between 20 fps down to 2fps at times really jerky as long as I dont shoot anything and walk instead of running and the famous look at the sky to increase fps. lol you ever seen someone showing a playback from a game they will say look I am getting 60 fps and they are running looking up at the sky where there is no textures just a little blue maybe a sun to render lol. I tried but I will not be able to game and fold at the same time. I will obey the rules however I do disagree with them If subs are allowed for someone for what ever reason then the others should be able to use them too. IMO it should be based on a time limit. Like someone must be out for over 48 hours and they cannot have a gpu higher than the one needing the sub. To me that sounds fair. I should not have to completely give up my favorite past time for a entire month. I could even understand if someone would be using a sub to game all the time but for just a couple days a month I do not see the harm. To be fair subs should be allow or not allowed some people do not have the money to have two computers.

you should try to break up the long paragraphs easier to decifer.

You should check to make sure you were indeed folding on one and gaming on the other with SLI and Physx turned off, cuz a GTX280/285 should be able to handle red fraction.

I have a 9800GT and i play COD4 on that while i fold, i have no problems yet

No doubt I was gaming one gpu 0 and folding on gpu 1 and I even switched it to see if it would change

The game is coded good it runs great. Just not when folding. I think it is my cpu that is the reason not my gpu.

I have a q6600. At the moment I have it overclocked to 2.7. The game really don't matter because that is not the only game I play. Last I counted I have 42 games. Lately I have been playing Red Faction Company of Heroes and Prototype and Batman is in the mail.

I only tried Red Faction while folding so far. I am going to try Prototype next.

Would setting affinity on a single core for Folding help?

Hey guys, big old problem here. My motherboard died (or my processor, but I am hoping for the Mobo) so I am out of commission. I have my spare rig folding with a 9600 in it, but If anyone can replace me for a bit here while I try to get a new Mobo, it would be great.
