Well done.
I have a EVGA 7600 GT (580/1500) that should post a little better than the 7600 listed on the charts, but yes, the ATI card is a little better,
but when I had the money the EVGA was much cheaper (and I dont regret it).

I would say that the x850xt is indeed a more powerful card, and when playing a lot of games, will boast better FPS. The 7600gt is not a more powerful card, just newer with better technology, which is why I would choose it over an x850xt. A few FPS is not worth worrying if your card can run a game, and secondly, my 7600gt can pull 7000 on 3dMark05, which is more than Ive seen from an x850xt.
Heres my score with the card clocked down from speeds I usually run: 6959

x850xt: More powerful (usually)
7600gt: New technology

What speeds is the 6959 at?
I'm pulling 7k w/ my x850xt on 567/602

The test was done at 622/860. The highest I've gotten was 70xx but I stupidly didn't submit, I ran that test at 644/855. I'm running 622/860 now cause the temp in my room is a balmy 79F(case temp is 40C idle) and my GPU gets to 70C on 3dmark05 at that speed/ambientTemp so I'm not running it faster till room cools.

nice post, although I agree that another source would have been nice

btw: on Newegg an X850XTPE is the same price as a X850XT. I want that so bad...

The highest 3dmark05 score for a single x850xt is 8840. This was of course obtained by doing a volt mod. The can x850xt achieve some really impressive results with a volt mod. Some getting up to the point that just in terms of framerate they can beat a 7800GTX at stock.

I think I would have to see the score sheets for an x850xt beating a 7800gtx to believe it, not that Im calling you out, but thats just incredible. The 7800gtx is pretty much a 7900gt. But 8840 is crazy good for an x850xt, kudos to that guy (or girl...?).

Yeah it only with a serious volt mod+aftermarket cooler that this is possible but for those willing to do it a x850xt can be a very powerful card for not that much investment monetarily. I am not saying it can beat a 7800GTX in all games just that it can compete on the same level and snatch a quite a few victories. It will still lose in OpenGL games.
