Of course it's going to lose in 3dmark06 since the X850 has no SM3. You really can't compare 2 systems like that and expect results to hold up. a 500 point difference in one test is hardly enough to close the case. His CPU is also dual core and yours is single, more suited for the 05 test. I think these are 2 cards that are powerful in their own respects. They are both old tech now anyways.

Hold up, are you seriously saying that because hes cpu is single core, he has a better chance of getting a better score? A 805 at 4.0ghz runs like the top of the line dual core intel cpu (not conroe).

The 805 @ 4GHz would outperform the 144 @ 2.4GHz but not enough to make a huge difference in 3dmark05. There could be a million things causing the scores to be different. Simply changing my drivers caused a 200 point change in my scores when I had a 7800GS.

So his system wins because of the video card then, making 7600GT > X850XT.

What is your overclock on your card Xeoc? Also have you increased the voltage?

Correction: In the near future, gamers will most probably be upgrading to dx10 cards. Your 7600gt and x850xt will be absolete anyways. And right now it is the decision b/w performance or unplayable fps. A 7600gt will use hdr too slowly to count as you will need to turn it off to maintain playable fps.

I'm @ 567/602. No voltage increase... although I'd like to increase at least the ram voltage w/ a pencil mod to get it higher. I'm unsure if it will work though as this is a agp version of the x850xt (this mobo has agp8x and pcie16x slots). Increasing my core will give me 1.6v which is supposedly too much for air cooling so that is out of the question...although my temps are only like 60C load w/ this vf700. To say the least, if I know the vddq and the other memory mod work w/ a pencil I'll probably jump on them lol

Edit: New score:

All I can say about this topic...I have a 7600GT AGP... is that I am pleased with the cards performance and overall I give it an 8. I can run FarCry and NFS MostWanted on high with 2xAA and AF on medium in the game 1440x990res and the rest on high smooth. Actually NFS can go to that res so I believe its something like 1280x920 not 100% sure, FarCry is at 1440x990 resolution. My AQ3 score using the leadte drivers is 72K and my best 3dMark score is 59 range its in my profile.

I have no experience with the X8xx what ever but I was gonna get one because this one was sold out. I like the benchmarks that I seen as they all outperformed the 7600GT but its lack of technology drew me away. I can say if this a good or bad thing but I am still quite pleased either way.

I am in RMAing the 7600 though due to somesort of instablilty with...well everything. Thats another thread though so whatever, anyway like I said Iam pleased with its performance.

Both cards are really good buys for the money. Each gains huge victories in certain games. The 7600gt does very well in OpenGL based games and the x850xt has a small to medium advantage in most others in some however such as Farcry it outpaces the 7600gt by a great deal as it can play the game on max settings at 1600x1200 with a good system backing it up.
