I say just go with what you want. The X850xt is definitely a more powerful card. The 7600gt is plenty powerful to run all games (haven't played oblivion) at 1280x960 with high settings. Do you want 3 or 4 hundred more pts on benchmarks/5 fps average increase, or SM3.0? Just go with what you want. Both are meeting their end soon.....

Ok i have run some test with my mates computer. i used his 7600GS OCed to GT AGP and x850XT in the same computer. so no difference in system. i haven't got precise results yet (he has 2 send me over the pics we took) but the 7600GS performed the best in all the test that we did. not by much though. really i would still go with a 7600GT AGP mainly because of the SM3.0 and HDR etc... support. and the fac that it is a bit quicker to in the test that we ran. and really the 7600 GS even when OCed to GT levels is behind the eight ball so 2 speak because it only has DDR 2 memory instead of DDR3. but it still won. so i would have 2 say the 7600GT/GS would b the way 2 go. btw i am more of a ATI fan so don't try and say that i am a fanboy of n-Vidia

thats really funny the x850xt at stock spanks the 7600gt......at stock. I am not sayin that I am in no way a ATI fanboy, but really look at the numbers. Whats really killin the 7600gt is the use of a 128-bit interface...wheras the x850xt utilizes a 256-bit interface.

Keep in mind, the 7600GT has ram that is anywhere from 500mhz to 800mhz faster the 7600GS. That ram makes a huge difference.

I find it funny how a single X850XT beats a 7950GX2 in a benchmark, along with a 7800GT and 6800Ultra's in SLI.

Yeh i remember. I oced it to the 7600GT AGP levels. but really i think it depends alot on the system as well. because i did the same tests on my system at home and well the x850XT won. only just but still. really i would still get the 7600GT 4 the fact that it has the extra features. like i remember how the old 9200 pro used to beat the 9600 pro in some test but the 9600 had SM2.0 and the 9200 only had 1.1. because of the hardware specs the 9600 can still run every game out. where the 9200 can't. so really performace isn't everything. u need both performace and features if u wanna keep running the lastest games. i ain't saying that u will b able 2 run them at max. but u will atleast b able 2 play them kinda thing. i mean if the X850XT had SM3.0 or the X1800 came out 4 AGP. there would b no debating. i would get the ATI card. but as thinfs stand. if u have a system with AGP and can't afford a 7800GS get a 7600GT. atleast they will probally run everything out 4 a longer time then the x850XT.

I got to 630 on stock volts, and I've seen voltmodded ones flirt with 740.

Proof? Also we are talking about dx8 and 9 here whereas the x8x0 servies only misses SM3
