Default DirectX Problems

Well I vaguely remember venturing my way in my DirectX settings and looking (don't remember changing anything) be ever since then no games/benchmarks would run and would turn out a DirectX or driver error. Well on my 9700 Pro I reinstalled both drivers and DirectX no worky, but I didn't think much of it, but now with my new 6800 I get the same errors. I don't see the DirectX options in Control Panel any more so I'm thinking some is jacked up in the install, is there a way to reinstall or rollback to 8.1 so I can reinstall 9.0c correctly? I've tried reinstalling 9.0c several times, no luck.

so the errors and such are gone after running the diag?... I would make sure to keep an eye open on the system... if it was messing up before and now somehow works, that suggests an instability somewhere else... so start digging... :P

Well something is definately wrong, my benchmarks are LOWER than they were before, and by a rather large margin... Time to reinstall Windows again I guess

indeed... sometimes its too difficult to pinpoint the problem and then when you do, sometimes theres lots of crap left over interfering with the solution anyway... reinstall and be on your way to bliss...

Well I've narrowed the problem down to the processor, in all the benchmarks, normal 3D performance increased but the CPU test and CPU dependant tests have decreased dramatically. I think I'll trying whiping all drivers then go from there. I will definately be reinstalling Windows within the next month, but I don't wanna do it tonight
