Default How to Overclock eVGA 8600GTS

I just got my 8600GTS, its a nice card, stock 675mhz Core Clock and 2000mhz Memory Clock. I have the software from Nvidia for overclocking your system, but it really didnt do anything. I read some reviews on the card from newegg's site and people talked about getting it to 700-800mhz core clock, so whats the safest way to go about doing this? Im brand new to overclocking, dont know a thing about it, but Im not computer illiterate, I built my system. Thank you for your time.

Awesome thank you. What cooling do you recomend for that card? I looked at Zalmans but unless I went stupid couldnt fine one that supported the 8600.

So would the 900 be best? Or is 700 fine? Also you dont think that cooler is too big do you? Say if I decided to go SLI one day, since the reviews said that the cooler is quite big.
