Default Upgrade or not

I have a problem. I would like to upgrade my system soon, but I feel stuck with video cards options. Right now I only have two video cards:
  1. AGP based ATI 9800Pro
  2. PCI based Riva 128 (hey it's NVidia with 128K of RAM, gotta be good :-) )

If I upgrade right now I will only be able to use Riva128, which is no fun to say the least. I can't continue using my AGP 9800 Pro as new motherboards simply do not have AGP anymore.

So here is my question. Is there is an inexpensive video card that can run say Bioshock, but that does not cost a lot. Ideally I feel that I probably should wait until Nvidia releases new 9800 GTX/GTS but it's hard to wait. I do not want to spend a lot of money on a good video card when it will be replaced by much better one (and similarly priced) in just few months.

So buy an ATI 2900XT and upgrade now having the top of the line ATi and a very high end DX10 card, I'd place it in between the curren 8800 gts and gtx.

You know you want one of them core 2 duos, ddr2, and PCIE!!!!

Also the ATI 2600XT is good also. But the 2900XT is way better its similar to a 8800.

I do don't know. After waiting all this time I feel I should just wait a bit more before getting a good card (but I want to upgrade the rest of my system). Is there is anything out there that can run Bioshock with average quality for say about 100$?

I would have thought nothing less than a 7600gt or equivalent to run bioshock decently.
Saying that I'd have a look around ebay or on these forums for some cheap options if it's only temporary.

I'd say either a 7600GT PCIe or 7600GS AGP, or the X1600 (or 1650) Pro. Both cards are VERY close to the same performance, but you won't get DX10 from them.

The X1950GT is in your price range.

Edit: The 256MB version is $115 and the 512MB version is $140.

The 256MB version is currently out of stock, but you could probably get it elsewhere also.

Forget the G-card right now. Anything you get will be HEAVILY bottlnecked by that CPU of yours. I really would considering upgrading the CPU/motherboard first mate...Otherwise you will have a very unblanced system.
