I'd just tell the guy to get back into touch with reality that he'll have to at least upgrade his motherboard, if he can get a PCI-E compatible motherboard he can pick up like a 6800GT for like $50 bucks.

I agree with the upgrading the mobo. what the 1550 cost around 100 and it sucks. if he had a pci slot he could get an 8600 for that same 100 bucks.

he needs to get a better mobo I agree but not agp rather pci-e and if it has agp so be it. seems though pci-e is a cheaper interface.

Yeah, but it's 8x faster than a x1550. The PCI ver is a crippled x1300

The PCI 6200 is the best PCI card.
The FX5500 just about ties with the x1300/x1550, but costs way less.

9250 is also reasonable, but only because 6200's aren't sold in a lot of places anymore.

Okay great news I think I got him talked into doing some major upgrades!!! I showed him what all you overclockers said and he is finally seeing the lightI'll let you all know what we end up doing for a build once we establish a budget he'll spend. It's definetly gonna be a pci-e build.

Thanks everyone!!
