Medieval should be playable at low/medium settings with a 14x9 resolution. You can always turn shadows to lowest and vegetation to medium/low, since these are the two options that would tax your card the most (aside from AA).
That game loves nvidia hardware (I know, I have the game) so if you're going to play that game the most, best go with a 7600gt or 8600gt. The game is very texture heavy and I doubt a card like the 2600 has enough "texture power" for a better than average playing experience.
