so with my current system the 2600pro would be better? how about the ram 512mb version vs 256 version?

If you've got the cash, go for the 512MB version. If not, go with the 256MB version. Your sig only says your running a 17" monitor so your not going to be playing at really high resolutions, so it really shouldn't matter too much. The 512MB should just be a little bit more future proof for you, that's all.
