71C max according to RivaTuner graph in 3DMark06. Ambient (in the room) about 25C. I have good air flow in the case.

yeah,.... get into CCC and set all the 3D Settings to 'max performance'. However, set AA and AF to 'application controlled'. Changing those isn't fair

THat's because the timings automatically adjust (I've read at 1000). I suppose that ATI Tool will eventually support timings adjustment (or so we can hope), but until then I would only OC past 1100 or just keep it at stock. You may try to increase the timings by 5 or 10 MHz increments and run a quick bench such as that ozone 3d OpenGL bench:
http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1717
This way you can compare your scores at different memory clocks and find the frequencies at which the timings auto adjust. You could also run the Lost Coast time demo as well.
I'm working on this ATM, and I'll be working on this today for the 1Gb. Since I modded my card to fit a case fan I can clock the memory to 1125 stable in gaming, and probably higher. Here is the mod:

BTW guys, I'll have pics of my back side fan mod as soon as my better half gets off work (Have to use her camera phone)
This mod is incredibly easy to do....OMG it's wonderful.
All you need:
two screws of the same diameter as the back plate screws, and of 1" length or so.
two motherboard riser screws
and.....a screwdriver
Remove these two screws:

This mod drastically reduces the temp of the backplate, and reduces the core temp (load) by 2-4C)
Here are the temps after playing Crysis beta for one hour.....nice.

OK I moved one slider (standard Settings) all the way to the left (for max performance, but left everything else alone) and got slightly better result.

Now, my max 3DMark06 score is 11879.

After that I tried to change memory speed back to the default (800) and got a worse result of 11697.

3DMark score is 11741. I think this is a great value. So if you are looking for a fast but inexpensive video card 2900 Pro is probably the best bet at the moment.
Damn, when is the last time you could get this performance from this budget? Overclocking is truly paying off more and more as manufacturing processes get smaller and cheaper.

Pros: I loaded up Bioshock and maxed out the settings, but this graphics slit the game's throat then ate it's entrails for dessert. It slammed Assassin's Creed's head onto the curb then stomped its head into that curb until it was nothing but a bloody pulp. This card is one bad mo-fo. It'll backhand your sister and degrade your mom, but they will still love it and want to date it because it is just that good. I love this card so much that I burned my tongue trying to french kiss it, and I still keep trying.

Thanks. That was a great tip (if anyone is reading this, try it and if it works Desperado1987 deserves a Rep point :-)). After I lowered my memory to 963 I got an even higher score of 11902.

After I increased PCIE speed from 100 to 110 I hit mine new record: 11968.

After increasing core from 875 to 877 I got score of 11975. 12k should definitely be doable (I know I can get my CPU to go faster with more vcore). But that's for tonight.

Edit2: But with latest drivers HD 2900 XT (or Pro which is the same) will kill not just GTS but probably Ultra as well. And for just 265$.
