I just want to add:
An LCD is nothing like a CRT in terms of refresh rate. Even at 60Hz, an LCD can display a higher FPS than 60 (I know, I have tested this). Refresh rate is not the problem. It's response time, backlight bleeding and poor contrast ratio.

....no.

Please pray-tell, how did you 'test this'. And what exactly about those things relate to this article at all?

just read this following the other bottleneck article. Great job! I like how you showed that yes CPU can be affected but it tends to be a LOT less the problem than the GPU. rep+

Thinking about it... but when I'll have time to do so is a long way off.

Now when your 3dmark score goes up nearly 1500pts with an extra 200mhz on your CPU is when it becomes obvious there was a bottleneck.......

However said bottleneck will never really be seen until you drop below your monitor's refresh rate. Actually... even lower than that but supposedly people really do claim that they can 'see it'. I think it's BS. Until I can see someone pick out a 60FPS game versus a 120FPS game in a double blind test I won't believe it.
