I found this and it really should help those that cannot decide to go w/ a HD3870 or 8800GT.

Oh ouch...sounds like there is hope for it at the beginning, but when you jump to the Conclusion page, bummer.

Don't go on that review, it's my advice. As little as I know about computer hardware there is obvious that when testing a new piece of hardware with an old driver (like this case) the performance is likely to drop. The 38x0 was tested with catalyst 7.9 and the 2900 with 7.10. Look for the others, anadtech.com, techreport.com, you'll see things that more in line with what can be expected from the newcomers.

No offense to anyone, but if you go with the HD3870 over the 8800GT, go get your head examined.
__________________You say the HD3870 is cheaper?? What, by $40 bucks? All while the 8800GT blows the HD3870 out of the water, along ofcourse with the bigger HD2900 series w/ the same performance as the HD3870...only thing that's changed with the new ATI cards is the price. ATI knows Nvidia is stomppin right now...and they haven't even come out with the new 8800GTS yet...(anounced any week now, which will shame even its own 8800GTX...) Quote:

but for the people who can only crossfire, it's a pretty good deal. (P35)

Yea, if you can only crossfire, then you have no other choice...

Nah, with the HD3870, I like it because it comes with "The Black Box" from valve, which has games that I am already going to buy. + in canada, its about 50 bucks cheaper than the 8800GT, and theres more of the 3870's in stock. So ultimately, im saving 100 bucks.

Wow that was a way fanboy statement. 55nm is reason enough for me to get one. Ill just put it on ln2 and clock the crap out of it. And people here are contesting those results with results they have.
