Yea, That is exactly what I would do, I mean come on most cases the 7900 would out perform the 8600.
I'd raise ![]() But yea, sorry, just thought I'd throw that in there. So I've been lucky and not had a card die on me when I cared enough about it to have to RMA.

Updated the OP with some more info...
The more i think about this little project, the more details I come up with. And of course, i will make data entry very painless. I am putting together a C++ app that runs in the cmd window that goes through each question and asks for an input. Depending on how 'idiot' proof i need to make this, please enter reasonable info, so not to throw off the study. If the question comes up where i ask, "What is the model version of your video card? :" and you enter something like 4569, this will not help at all... So for now, i will not incorporate any type of illegal user input, or nonsensical entry avoidance until i get the main guts of this ironed out... app pending...

Really? thats kinda strange... do they think that NON north American's are more apt to ruin their card?? just a thought from the flip side.
This is the kind of thing that i am looking for and want to address!! Good info! This type of info will be displayed when the user launches the app. All of the little strange quarks about the politics of warranties that users should be aware of...

You get a pretty raw deal over here with PC components not only do you pay alot more for them and have a smaller range usually but you also have situations like this where the warranty policy is subpar.
RMA'ing parts here seems to be a far more laborious process than north america as well.

from what i saw in Germany 4 years ago when i was there, PC hardware was almost hard to come by. The few places i found that deal in hardware, only had a very limited stock on hand. You had to order damn near anything. And at that point, might as well order it yourself and cut out the middle man so to speak...
Don't you have quite the bank roll to fund your computer needs cogs? your like one of the few girls on here and have quite the budget for your hardware. Quit your whining!!! ![]()

Can anyone confirm if this is also taken into account with some companies?
__________________From what I believe, companies like XFX and EVGA also check the date you registered your card to get a "feel" of what you paid for it. If you registered an 8800GT right when it came out, they know you spent around $275-300 and not the current $180AR for it, and I believe they will handle the RMA according to that. If you bought an 8800GTS G80 last year compared to now, you will probably be getting a huge difference in replacement due to the massive price difference. None of this is fact, it's just what I think some companies take into consideration during the RMA process

I bet after a few hundred people give me some data, that answer would me more clear...
