Given that the 3870 ACTUALLy runs with the 8800gt (the GT has a minor lead), and that the 3870 is much cheaper, I'd say snag a 3870. It actually beats the GT in some benches(not many) and looses with a small margin with the rest, and they ACTUALLY get closer in performance with higher resolutions. Check the reviews HERE.
I know i cant bank too much on this next point, but the WAY I KNOW ATI, performance will actually go up significalntly with each driver release.

I think the 3870 is a better choice, because it has more IQ than the 8800GT.
And more cheaper.

The 3870 renders the graphics alot better than the GT and is cheaper.

I would prefer it looking nice than being fast, thats why i buy a good graphics card...so the games can look better.

Obvious choice if you like qualty over quantity

The more and more I read about the 3870 the more it looks like it may be a winner for me. It's cheaper, -should in theory- cool better thanks to it's double slot design and should be able to handle 1680x1050 resolution.

The only game I plan on playing anytime soon is Lord Of The Rings Online so it should be able to handle it even with high resolution textures.

I can see that line becoming big on OCN.

My rig has more IQ!

Kind of like "I can has cheezburger?" or "All your base are belong to us."

IQ = Intelizenge Cuociente or Image Quality
It more has than greater quality picture than 8800GT.
