If I lived in BC I'd be "hardware poor".

I almost feel bad for not buying ATI... I really don't want AMD to go out of business.

I agree 8800 GT ftw, and lets say you get a 22 inch wide as a present from someone or something then you have a card to support it.

You people need to look around better before starting these threads.
That was 3 weeks ago. I think its neck and neck with the 8800gt now. 8800gt has a slight lead

I think as it stands now 8800GT is the way to go for single card. Especially if money isn't the limiting factor. If it is, then it gets more complicated. And this is coming from a HD3870 owner. I absolutely love the card and don't regret buying it at all. Just giving my honest opinion.

The only game I plan on playing anytime soon is Lord Of The Rings Online so it should be able to handle it even with high resolution textures.
I've still got stock cooling on my 3870 and it cools pretty well. Here's the sad thing. At idle, I use Rivatuner to keep it at 60% and I still can't hear the fan.

A few days ago, it looked at Catalyst and it was idling at 35C. I went to play the Crysis demo, and turned the fan up to 100%. I paused gameplay, went to my desktop, and opened Catalyst again. It was only at 50C.

When benchmarking, like with 3DMark 06, if I don't turn the fan up manually, it'll get warm ~70-80C. But, with the fan going full blast, it never got above 50C. I think the stock cooling is good, but I'm still considering other cooling options (possibly quieter). Hope this helps
