Basically you'll be playing all of your games on low 1024x768, you should try looking for a nice used card on craigslist or here.

Yep, the 8400GS is a waste of money. I understand that you are coming from a FX 5200, but there is absolutely NO WAY that that card will run GoW.

Thumbs up

I actually have that exact same card from Foxconn and it cost me only $20 from newegg with a MIR. I bought it to hold me over until i decide between an HD3870 or 8800GT. Upon getting it however, its performance is not as crappy as others might think (like at first i thought it was garbage and a cheap pos card)

I overclocked it to 515 core, 450 mem using its own OC software that it comes with (very easy to do)

Using the system i just put together below, I run Lord of the Rings Online in DX9 at a pretty sweet med-high settings, no AA i believe. Ive also run it at DX10 but thats heavier than DX9 on the graphics card, so i wouldnt suggest it too much. I also play Medieval II: Total War, which is also graphics heavy with huge battles, although definitely not as heavy as the new FPS games out today. World of Warcraft, not a problem at max.

If running Aero or movies is your main concern, it can easily handle it. I use it on a 27-inch widescreen viewsonic HDTV/LCD.

Now dont go thinking u can run with the best with this card. 3dMark06 gives it a meager 1900 roughly. However, for the price, I have yet to be disappointed or find a game i like that it cant run at good visual settings.

Please note that i do not play FPS games, and each card may be different. The above is based on my personal experiences only.

I have had an 8400gs which I found the overclocking on was insane! Loved that card, I have an 8600gts now and although it is faster I cannot overclock it nearly as much percentage wise.
