Yes. I have used both cards ( I have the 7800gt on my desk here actually XD ), and the 8600 wins in most of the games I have played...

Once again, alot of this list was compiled in the past by J3r3my, and over 55ish pages, has gotten pretty darn accurate.

I've always found these threads helpful when I come across an older graphics card. While it may be debatable what card is better than another (eg 8800GTX and HD2900xt), overall I've found the lists to be useful.

I sorta wished VIA made more cards. That S3 Chrome S27 oddly shines in the list.

IMO memory bandwidth is more important than shader power, because the 8600GT will bottleneck before you can really use all of its power. Maybe we could separate the list based on memory interface size, like a list for 128bit and less and a list for +256bit, because shader ops mean nothing when you have to play the game on low because the card can barely handle 1280x1024 due to lack of bandwidth.

Great thread. I assume overclocking or SLI/CrossFire aren't taken into consideration here.

Lol, that first one ranks a single 7600GT better than SLI 6800 Ultras...

Yea, my bad...I'll put them right under the XT's, since they are practically the same thing

No, stock clocks and single card

This thread is mostly for those "Which card is better" threads that seem to pop up...

Now, of course, there are situations where one card is better than another (I.E. 256 MB GT good at low res, 1 GB HD2900's good a high res), but this is just a "General guideline" for most cards
