Default multicore gpu's

this would be something to drool over multicore gpu's. whats everyones take on that possibility. would the performance gains be as noticable as that on desktop processors

I'm guessing they would be similar in performance to the various dual gpu video cards, with the possibility of 4 cores, but processors today are having a hard time keeping up with the fastests single core gpu's, so I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Where did you get that idea? Crysis is raping even Tri-SLi, we need all the GPU power we can get.

Ahhhhhhhhhh.... GPUs are already multi-core. What do you think 128 Stream Processors means? That's a 128 seperate cores working together in clusters of 16.

Yeah, GPUs have effectively been multi-core for well over a decade.

Yup, simple parallel processing > predictive linear processing for graphics and vector processing.

Yea there are always going to be "more" thats what we crave and thats what nvidia and ati are trying to do.

I wonder what the likeliness of intel or amd incorporating any type of GPU tech into cpus Is.

That too has been in the works for a while now.. I believe the official codename is "Sandybridge". It will incorporate a multi-core [talk of 8cores now] CPU which will be able to handle GPU duties..though to what degree is all skepticism at this point. Some speculate the the gpu-abilities of these cpu's will be for assisting actual GPU's or for on-board graphix.

Intel already said that they plan to have some GPU capabilites in Nehalem.

very nice..I have been holding out on a cpu upgrade for some time now.. very impatiently. I will be waiting for some benchies and other VID info before buying any new Q4's though.
