Any searching have have done people said they have sucessfully ran sli then added an ati card to run their second monitor off from. I am waiting for my ati card to come in the mail to make my second monitor work. I love the fps with my 9800gx2 sli'd so i dont want to make them run separate. So i ordered an x1300 or something like that for 24.99 to run my second monitor.

Long story short, its not possible. It's severely aggravating to say the least, but i learned a bunch

EDIT: Actually the only time i successfully had SLI on my main monitor and the HD 3870 running the off one was in XP Pro 32 bit. I could never get the thing to run in XP 64 bit / Vista x64

You misunderstood me, this issue is by no means a vid card issue, it's most likely a driver and mobo related issue (so also a driver issue). You have an entirely different setup, you have SLI on a card. You have no way of disabling the SLI on your GX2 so it's not quite the same thing driver-wise.

Yes there is a way of disabling it. It sees each card as being separate. I just added an ATI card to my system to get my second monitor to work. All i had to do was download the current drivers and it worked fine. With or without sli enabled. And YES it does make a difference with it enabled a HUGE difference. Do a little more reading on the card. They are in "sli" just like on the Mobo. If sli is enabled you cannot use both ports on the card.
