Default nvidia and ATI cards in Vista x64

Is it possible to run both at the same time in vista?

Right now i have 2 x 8800GT SLI'd with two 22" inch monitors. The issue is that SLI only outputs to one port, so you can't run dual monitors. Ive tried the following setups in Vista x64

2 x 8800GT and an 8400GS, It will see all three cards, but only use an 8400gs and 8800GT. In this setup I was not able to get SLI to turn on

The next setup was 2x 8800GT in SLI, and a HD 3870. The issue im having now is that vista disables the HD 3870, becuase its says its incompatible. Ive looked around a bit, and it seems that vista wont allow it. Not sure if there is some modded drivers i can use or not.

Any help?

You're going to have driver conflicts more likely. Not to mention that your chipset is going to commit suicide

you really shouldn't be running an nvidia and an ATI card on the same machine. I see what you are really trying to do is to run SLI and have two monitors running, and that is a no go. SLI does not support multiple monitors at this point in time. What many people do is use SLI for their games, and then run a batch command that will disable SLI so they can go back to their dual monitors. Without using that batch file, I can see no way for you to accomplish your goal.

I have successfully installed 2x 8800GT with SLI enabled and extended my desktop onto the HD3870. XP 64 bit ftw.

Now hopefully everything runs fine in games. Ill update.

From everything i was reading, was that xfire had the same issues. Plus, Id need a new board/cpu to boot.

Any way i was able to get it working in xp pro, but my memory was only listed as 2gb. I then tried XP 64 bit, and everytime I install the video drivers for the ATI and then reboot I bsod.

My last and final attempt at this invovles 3 x 8800 gt, 2 of which will be SLI in Vista x64 (Im lucky my brother has an 8800gt to test with )

Quite.

And why would his chipset give up? There's not an extreme amount put on it...Three ultras would do worse...

SLI wasn't meant to be used like this, I suppose once it finds two random nVidia cards it tries to SLI them, hence the 8400GS and 8800GT working (not in sli) and one GT not being recognised. It can only be worse if you add an ATI card. Anyhow if you make it.
