Default PNY 8800GT 512 & q6600 @3.4G

With 8800GT 512M cards falling through the floor I picked up a PNY 8800GT 512M for 175$ at a local BestBuy.

Thought maybe might help someone else if their looking to upgrade ... noticeable difference between old 8600GT.

7600GT K0 -> 8600GT = Lose - Little real difference
8600GT -> 8800GT = Win - for under $200

Def. worth the money for the gains
8800GT: Light overclock for now -> Stock cooler at 65% Fan speed
Clock: 706Mhz (+106Mhz)
Shader: 1779Mhz (+229Mhz)
Mem: 979Mhz (+79 Mhz)

3DMark Score: 14,336
SM 2.0 Score: 6,008

SM 3.0 Score: 5,602

Compared to 8600GT:

http://www.overclock.net/graphics-ca...0mhz-256m.html

3DMark06: 5,448
Core Speed: 700.04 Mhz
Mem Speed: 700 Mhz

The rest of the specs in sig: q6600 @ 3.4Ghz & 1.45Vcore, DK P35-@T2RS, 2 Gig DDR2 @757Mhz

whats safe (relatively speaking) ?

Its in a CM Stacker 830 with 6 fans pushing air in and 2 sucking it out (plush the mesh side grills) so airflow should be ok. I need to get a waterblock for the 8800 and add it to the loop eventually. But Now I have two free 8600GT's im curuious to SLI and see how they fare.

Also: GPU validated http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/4cym6/

Was able to hit 14.5K 3Dmarks last night by upping a few more % on the GPU and shader

So what have OCN'ers pushed these cards to on stock volts and air?

More to the point My w/c loop should be able to handle the GPU also ... is it worth the effort to add it to the loops for the gains to be had ? Or is are the gains so marginal that its not worth it in reality aside from extreme gamers or bragging rights?
