8800gt 1gb
I've been reading around on the net and I'm looking for a new graphics card, i've come across the Gainward 8800GT 1GB Golden Sample.
__________________I've heard good things about Gainwards golden sample range and the card specs look really good but one thing I noticed it has 96 Stream processors as opposed to 112 That the other 8800GT 1GB Cards have (Including Gainwards other model) Will this decrease performance slightly? http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=728464 I know most people would say 1GB is overkill, I was originally thinking about 8800GTX as they're so cheap now but heard that it might not be possible to run 2 of the cards on x8 PCI-E (SLI planned for whatever card I purchase) What are your thoughts?

The 1Gb really doesn't make a difference over 512mb for the 8800 GTs. And that has to be some kind of typo. All 8800 GTs have 112sp. I'd say find the lowest priced GT with 512mb of vram and you'll be set.

Its not at all any better then the 512mb version.

Yup, even at higher resolutions, this extra 512mb will never give you more than like 1 or 2 more fps in most games... I suggest this if you can rack up the few extra dough:
