Default 8800gtx SLi or ATI's 4870 X2?

Hey! An 8800gtx is for sale for 250$ here. Should i go for it and sli it or should i use my 8800gtx, OC it as it is about to be watercooled till the 4870 x2 comes out and go for it? I heard 8800gtx doesnt scale that well and it's better to go for newer cards for HD resolutions. I have a 30inch dell and thinkin of running games on 1920+ res.

Wait... 8800GTX or 9800GTX for $250. For either card, thats a great deal.

A bit early at this point, we need to see some 4 series real benchmark especially in games and cooling. Other than that, G80 GTX is still a good card at that price.

Hmmm...the thing is if i go for another 8800gtx, id need to go for an nvidia chipset board. Most probably a 780i which is 350$ here! There are two of these cards available for the same price. Tri-Sli Gtx's any good?

Tri-SLI gives even less of a performance increase than how well 2 cards in SLI scale. Will you see improvement in frame rate? Probably, but not as much as you see from a single to dual SLI.

Tri-sli scale isn't that good. If you just do SLI and 65nm quad, the evga 680i A1 should be fine. I would wait few weeks to see how the new 4 series does.

I say stick with NVidia, the drivers on ATI's cards FAILED with CrossfireX on many systems..

Its an easy way out.. I say Go with SLI 8800GTX's and overclock them a bit to take it that extra mile

Yea im thinking the same thing. Before shelling out 500$, its better to wait for 4 series and see how that scales.
