So im building a new comp and ordering parts probably within two weeks. With the 4870's looking amazing in crossfire im just wondering if id be better off going with two of those or one gtx280... Also im not familiar with crossfire mobo's at all and just wondering if i do go the xfire route which mobo would be a good choice.

If you want to Crossfire you're gonna need a X38 or X48 Chipset on the Mobo.

I think two 4870's beat out a 280, but if your putting up all that cash you might want to consider getting a 280. That way, if you get an sli mobo, you have the option of sli with the 280 in the future. If you want to be smart about it though, just crossfire two 4870's. You'll save a ton of cash.

4870 cost around 300$ and is about 10% slower then the 650$ GTX280. If you Crossfire 2x4870 you will beat 1 GTX280 in about everything and in many game more then enough to see which is better. In the end if you get 2 4870 you will get them cheaper then 1 GTX280 and better performance too.

no matter what board u get go x-fire, the 4870 is almost as good as the gtx 280 and at half the cost so if u x-fire them you will get more performance for your money
