Default Some questions about HD4850

Does HD4850 consume more power than my current video card, 8800GTS 320MB ?

Does it use 6-pin connector like GTS 320MB ? If yes then there is no need to change my PSU, Right ?

Do you think going from GTS 320MB to HD4850 is a good upgrade ? Would I notice a huge difference in all games I play ? and please if you are a fanboy then don't answer this question..

EDIT: If forget to mention that I have this motherboard. So, will HD4850 work normally on that board or will I need to update the bios or do something before I install the HD4850 ?

EDIT2: I don't care about 3dmark, folding.... I care about gaming only.

Fill out your system specs here man, so we know what you're dealing with.
http://www.overclock.net/specs.php?do=addsystem

But no, the 4850 doesn't consume THAT much more power than the 80nm GTS320, so as long as you have a decent power supply around 500+watts, you should be all set.

On the PSU front:
I have 580w PSU and the HD4850 with no problems...

I do not have first hand experance with the 8800s but if you read thru this and look at the charts then you should get an idea if it will be worth your $$$ or not...

Personally if I were you I would wait a few more weeks maybe a month... Until the price war settles down and the 4870x2 has been released. By then you might be able to afford an HD4870.

PS if you like looking at your 3DMark06 score (or folding) then the ATIs are not for you... If you look at gaming performance than the current ATIs have a very nice dollar/performance ratio!

my 4850 runs great on an antec earthwatts 500 watt. The 4850 will do better than your 8800, but since you have a quad, I would seriously debate the 4870. A quad and a 4870 is an awesome combo. The 4850 is nice too though.

So, you are saying that HD4850 is only 10-20% faster than my one year old GTS 320MB ? !!

And it slower in Crysis ?

Are you sure ?

It'll be faster even in Crysis than your 8800GTS

8800GTS (G80) < 8800GT < 8800GTS (G92) < 9800GTX < HD4850

It's far more than 10%-20% difference
