Default GFX card upgrade

I currently have a 9800gtx and I can trade my card in and get a 9800gx2 for $80 more.

I'm happy with my 9800gtx but want a little more power( or alot) and just want to know, is it really worth it to step up to the GX2?

I use 1680x1050 res.

Its not really worth it at that res. Plus the GX2 is a little buggy IMO.
I would stay with what you've got for a while.

9800GTX is fine for 1680x1050. In term of the price, it is about $80 to $100 between stock 9800gtx and 9800gx2. Even 9800gx2 is 200w, your psu and rig will handle it fine. For now, I would stay what you have.

Keep your 9800GTX. If you were to get the 9800GX2 your CPU would bottleneck it from what ive hear all over forums saying you need a Quad core for the GX2 with a good OC to not bottleneck it.

For what applications would a dual core bottleneck the gx2? I cant think of any games right now that actually uses all four cores when you have a quad core which is why people recommend the e8400 over the q6600 if that person plays games. The q6600 will only have the advantage in artificial benchmarks but nothing more other than normal applications that dont involve the gpu

I am quite a gamer, my e8400 is deifnatly better than any of my friends q6600, and well... too late I cant stop the order for the GX2,already shipped. Should i RMA or is it a decent upgrade that will improve my crysis 1.2.1 gameplay over my 9800gtx?

It might be better for now. But just wait for the games that will support multiple cores near future. Thats why the Q6600 is future proof.

yes it will help, its 2 9800GTXs (downclocked) in 1. just oc it to stock 9800GTX levels (44mhz more on the core, i think) and youll be great. for $80, its a very good deal.
