A friend of mine just got a 9800GTX+ and it came w/ an S/PDIF cable. Why would any video card come w/ an S/PDIF cable, I thought that was an audio format?

Well I mean its "gaming" but still hitting those audiophiles that don't wanna drop the cash for a pro level card? Just a guess. Or maybe more general audio work. I know a lot of money conscious people will grab a top level gamer for 3D stuff instead of the Quadros/FireGL's.

Makes it easier to hook your system up to other external sources I believe.
Like my friend just got a new 40" LCD 1080p TV, so I brought over my laptop to watch 40 inches of anime lol. Turns out there isn't an option on such a tv to use analog sound (red and white cables) + D-sub. My only choices were HDMI, or D-sub + SPDIF.
