Hate to respond to a threadjack, but 4870X2 is top of the line.

4850 isn't THAT much faster, you'd just be wasting money for a small increase.

to the OP: since you have an SLI capable board, i would just buy another 8800GT and call it a day. At 1680x1050, you won't need more than a pair of G92's.

You have an SLI board, dropping 120$ on another 8800gt for SLI would give you more performance than a single 4850 (or 4870) by far.

I LOVE the new 4800 series, but you can't deny that 120$ for an 8800gt is a great steal.

QFT.

I think if you wanna move up, do it right. The 4850 would be merely an incremental upgrade imho.

Just save up the extra hundred bucks and get a 4870, it will be worth it for the 1650x1080 resolution.

Mainly because the HD4850 image quality is at least 20 times better than any nVidia card out there!

NO!!!!!!!! its only 20% faster. not worth upgrading. get a 4870, that would be a good upgrade.

not true, starting in the 8 series, i dont see any advantage to ATI's image quality. This was just true during the 7 series days when the x1xxx had better quality. now its close and very subjective, not better.
