I'd say either get another 8800 GT, or just save your money for a better card.

I went from a volt modded 8800GT (800 mhz core, 2000 mhz shader, and 1000 mhz memory) to a 9800 GTX; and though it overclocked like a beast to above what my 8800GT was at (9800GTX got to 800 core, 2000 shader, and 1200 memory), it really wasn't much of an increase, and would not have been worth the money.

With SLI just remember you have to contend with microstuddering, and other minor issues.

Go with the 4870. Since your playing in 1680x1050, it'll be perfect for you. If you OC your Quad, it'll be even better.
