Again, thanks for all the help guys. Got a MB picked out now. I just want to get Crossfire so in case I might get some money and I could upgrade it a little.

Saying its twice as fast is just a lie. It surely is a faster card, but I have yet to see it double the frame rate consistently (if at all) in any game.

yea 4850 its only 25-40% faster than the 8800GT
3870 would be faster than the 9600GT, but takes a big performance hit with AA enabled.

Actually nope, the 4850 is still faster then the 9800GTX+

Ill take my 2 GTX 260s over the 4850 or 4870 anyday.

From what i read in that review id say they were about equal except the 4850 runs to dang HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!which is a big no no for me

Sure if you ignore the hundreds of threads about the fan speed fix.
My card, in my little mini-tower, idles around 53C and loads around 78C or so with just 50% fan speed.

He was comparing the HD4850 to the 9800GTX+ not the GTX260. And yeah, who cares if they run hot? It's not like they get damaged and if you want to overclock increase the fan speed.

I agree that the 9800GTX+ does have a nicer cooler and it is dual slot but the HD4850 is usually cheaper and has better image quality which sealed the deal. Not to mention it works on Intel chipsets (for crossfire).

It seems that the 4850 is more expensive than the 8800GT. Generally, price often dictates performance when comparing two cards... at least in this case.

GTX260 = $300, $600 for SLi
4850= $175, $300 for CF
plus a 4850 needs 1 6 pin power conect. vs 2 for the GTX260
the 4850 in Crysis with AA and Af on beats the 9800GTX+ by 8FPS and is only 2FPS slower than the GTX260
