Confirmed, ATI has better image quality than Nvidia. Well at least when comparing my 8800gt and HD4870. I was skeptical about this since my last two cards were Nvidia, but it's most definitely true... Way less jaggedness when not using FSAA. I am a true believer of ATI image quality.

And who says the GTX260 clocks up better? I've been running this HD4870 at 850/1100 since I bought it yesterday... Just had to get the fan spinning to cool it. When I throw my HR03 GT on it, we'll see just how much it can go with stock voltage.

I haven't had any of the problems associated with the HD4870 that I have read about. However my load times have increased since installing the ATI drivers... Don't know why... It's probably time for a reformat and reinstall of OS's.

HD4870 big time FTW

Talking GTX 260 core 216

The 4870 is a great card, but the new GTX260 with 216 cores is SUPER fast, especially when overclocked to 650MHZ. I's say it beats the 4870 by a little bit, but its at least equal. It also runs cooler OC'd than the 4870 at stock. And the ability to use PHYSX (NVIDIA ONLY) makes the special effects amazing. I'm getting a second one of these cards later on in SLI

now they're on a different price class.

with 4870 priced at $170 (and will soon be $150 this week), and the gtx260 at $200+, hell i don't even think why i should be dumb enough to consider the 260, unless i fold.

and unless i'm a die hard fanboy

Potential customer: What is the meaning of life?
nVidia representative: PhysX, as seen in next-gen games like Batman:Arkham Asylum, PhysX makes your g200 based card BETTER than the 58XX series in all aspects. You'd be an idiot to buy ATI when you'd be forfeiting physX
