I currently have a 3870 in my rig, and the time has come to upgrade it. Please give me your opinion on whether I should go for two 4870s in crossfire or a 4870X2, because the cost for both isn't very far apart.

One 4870x2.
Same performance, but uses less power and produces less heat than two seperate cards.

I'd vote for crossfire, but I'm biased. I prefer two cards as they both are kept cooler by having their own heatsink and fan, and I personally think it looks cool (yes I know its a silly reason)

x2 def, then if you want another x2, quad x, if you got a little money latr, another 4870 and your gold... Plus, it'll take up less room.

Wouldn't 2 4870 1Gb beat a 4870x2 2Gb since its ram is mirrored? I know that the 1Gb 4870 has a significant lead over the vanilla 4870. I haven't been able to find any reviews to support this however.
