Well, considering a 4830 is better than an 8800gt, and that a single 4850 will be more than powerful enough to run any Linux app you can throw at it....

Go Crossfire.

ATI hasn't been that nice to their Linux drivers... ever, but I'm not sure if they've gotten that much better in recent history. But if you game mostly in Windows, the 4850s, that would be a superior choice, but I'm a sucker for nVidia's partner's warranties too.

nvidias partners do have some good warranties, just choose whatever your pocket can handle better, btw if you do go crossfire you already have one of the 8800, turn it into a physx, if you psu is large enough
my recommendation: get the ati as atm its a pwner of a card, if you already have an 88 and a big enough psu turn that into a physx card, therefore you have a nice solid platform

8800GT SLI, but I may be bias because that's my set up. I do believe the HD4850 would be much better.
