hey guys, im not to sure if this is the right forum to post this question in, but my problem is related to a graphics card so i found this to be appropriate = p
Anyways, i recently purchased a new evga 8800gt, i installed it in my crappy hp motherboard ( i think its actually an asus board, at least thats what ive been told lol) which im POSSITIVE that it has a PCI-E x16 slot. So i installed it and made SURE that it was fit snugly in the slot and fired the pc up, NOTHING. The cards fan was going but thier was no signal at all. I tried 4 different moniters and i tried the card in my neighbors pc and IT WORKED STRAIT AWAY! I also MADE SURE that the 6 pin connector was connected and that i had enough power on my 12v rails ( I DO, antec earthwatts 500 80+ certified) Still nothing, also tried dual booting with vista to see if it was some problem with xp still nothing. I updated bios, installed older card drivers, STILL NOTHING, i even plugged the moniter into my int. graphics card and it wouldnt even notice the 8800. Guys im stuck, do i need to flash my bios? Im really not sure what the problem is my 9500gt works GREAT and its pci e 2.0 i just dont understand! thanks for takeing the time to read my long and gramaticly incorrect post = p PS. a new board is out of the question until christmas time =p so please no posts about " oh just buy a new board!" its what ive got and i have to live with it until then = ] ![]() justin

Did you plug in the extra 4-pin power cord from your power supply?
Edit: Wow, I read the entire thing except for the half a line on the left hand side.

i cant find the option in the bios, thier is a place where you can select which video device to boot from i selected pcie thier was an option to select pci or integrated but no option to disable int video itself. Thiers an option to disable i1334 integrated or something not to sure what that is would that be it?
thanks justin
