As already mentioned, its no contest, the 4850 is faster. the only reason you should ever consider the 8800GT/9800GT is if you wanted to fold, which is a bad reason to decide on a card.

GTA4 is CPU depended and not much GPU. Its Also know to sun better with nvida card. I have 3 systems one with 4850 one with 8800GT and 8800GS and i can tell you 4850 is a better card. For example in crysis same setting no AA i get 37fps with 8800GT 33fps with 8800GS and 50fps with 4850. When i overclock them its 42fps with 8800GT 37fps with 8800GS and 60fps with 4850.

I voted 9800GT, because that's what I have my eyes on, primarily because it will be folding for 75% of its life.

The HD4850 competes with the 9800GTX+ so it will be a good deal faster than a 9800GT. Get the Sapphire HD4850 for $110 shipped (after $20 promo code and $15 MIR) over the MSI since it's $20 cheaper and has an aftermarket cooler.
