would get an 8800 GTS...near enough on par with a 4850 (depends on what reso you will gmae at) on lower resolutions i've seen benchies saying its better:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...n,2007-30.html

but thats just my opinion every one raves about the 4850 like its the second coming of christ but its similar performance to 8800 GTS or 9800 GTX etc

8800GTS < 9800GTX < HD4850 = 9800GTX+

They aren't very similar at all. There is at least 20% difference I'd say between them and more once anti-aliasing is used.

Umm no, read a review or two, the 4850 constantly stomps even the 9800GTX.

http://www.techreport.com/articles.x/14967/4

EDIT, your canucks review shows them equal, either way the 9800GTX wasnt in the poll and the 4850 walks all over a 9800GT.

Tom's Hardware has consistently shown to be inconsistent with other major review sites in terms of results.

Keep in mind Crysis is an Nvidia optimized game.

firstly what GTS is that? it doesn;t say 512 it could be the old 320 or 640 models as their is no way a 8800 GT beats a 8800 GTS 512.
Secondly i said depends on reso, those are higher resolutions....i said nothing about resolutions that high hence why i put a benchmark out for 1280 x 1024

Tom's are the most incompetend "reviewers" I've ever seen to date. According to Tom's, Q6600 performs vastly better than Phenom II 940 clock-for-clock, and they don't even know how to overclock AMD CPUs... I'd rather count on my mum to provide some decent benchies.

let me just clarify i have at no point said the GTS 512 is better, i;ve said some reveiws say it is but the majority don't, i only said that they are similar cards their isn;t a massive difference, more noticeable the higher resolution you play at, so it comes down to price and what resolution your going to play at.
