Ok hey guys. It is Funcrazy1. I have been testing some OS out. So i finaly got 4gbs of ram DDR2 1066mhz 5-5-5-15 i think or wat ever the time is for 1066mhz i installed windows xp 64bit and i run tf2 and i got a average of 22FPS when i had 2gbs of ram and on Vista ultimate 32bit i got average of 40FPS. But i tryd windows 7 64bit and i get the same average as windows xp 64bit. It seems like 32 bit OS i get more FPS rather in 64bit OS. Any 1 can help me out please?

as of right now yes im on Windows 7 x64 bit and i still lag ! nooo i dont want esle to try i want to use my full 4gbs...

Is windows vista x64 working for you fine in all your games?

with win7 32bit your pc can recognize all your 4gb of memory :P and its more compatible with softwares :P

Well, yes and no.
Win 7 32 bit can recognize it, but the total addressable memory in a 32 bit operating system is 4096mb, 4.0GB. This includes everything RAM and VRAM, from both an integrated card, if you have one, and a slot card.
Most video cards come with 512mb of memory now, making a 32 bit operating system only able to address 3.5gb of memory at a time.
Win 7, I think, shows that you have 4gb of memory, however, it sets up a 'queue' of memory, where only 3.5 is addressable, and it will stop using VRAM if it is not needed. IIRC, this is what I remember, correct me if I'm wrong.
Also, there is no difference in 'compatibility' between 64 and 32 bit software. It's 64bit OSes that can't run 16bit programs, however 32bit operating systems can. Nobody uses 16bit programs anymore on a regular basis though, so it's a moot point.
x64 uses a software virtualization to simulate a 32bit environment, therefore there are no issues running 32bit software on an x64 system.

To the OP, are you SURE you've upgraded all of your drivers to the latest x64 versions?

It will work on both Vista and Windows 7.

Also, make sure your timings and voltage are set correctly in your motherboards BIOS, and that the speed is also correct.

what i meant is the drivers for his current components... using a beta OS in 64bit wouldnt really yield that much of a difference unless all softwares/drives are fully compatible...

Windows 7 is barely a beta, there are very few programs and drivers that do not work with it.
Windows 7 and Vista share a driver subsystem, meaning they can use each others driver packages with no problems.

Also, not to be mean, but your sig lists your overclock as 2.77 mhz, I think you mean GHz.

dont worry no offense taken its a typo... unless youre one of the nurses that i work with then you wouldnt know what 2.77 or 3.0 in a cpu speed...
