No its not, its a hybrid 7900GT/7600GT. Basically a 7900GT but with the memory bus and ROP setup of a 7600GT (128 bit and 8 ROPs). Any $100 videocard absolutely decimates it in performance.

The idea that games are being held back by consoles is completely invalid. PC developer's simply don't care about actually pushing the envelope in this regard, besides the devs of Crysis. How many games have been made, solely for the PC, by PC devs? And how many of those games surpass 360 graphics by enough to actually matter to anyone besides the videophiles? And better yet, even though the graphics don't LOOK much better, you're STILL having to upgrade your pc system, to play the newest games!

And let's face it. Halo 3 is pretty much every bit as much fun as Crysis,(unless you're just obsessed with having a keyboard, but that's a different discussion, I think), even though Crysis' graphics are sooo much better. And, quite honestly, the graphics on Crysis aren't that much better than games such as Halo 3, or GoW. I've seen all three, and the honest truth is that while playing the game, you don't usually notice the fact that this tree looks a little more lifelike, or this plant reacts a little differently.

Crysis was being made for the 360 but was scrapped because it could not handle it on low settings.

You CAN play mostly all of the new games on you computer that is older, you just have to settle for lower graphic quality ie; turning detail level/resolution down. then it will be closer to that of a console's output.

And NONE of those games has a significant advantage to 360, in terms of graphics, at least not enough to put the pc's gaming potential over the 360's. That's the point. The point of asking pc only games wasn't for you to list a bunch of pc only games, the point was to point out that none of those PC only games has much of a lead on 360 graphics. The only things holding PC games back are the developers.

Not what I was getting at. When you're playing a game, especially in a sort of competition, you don't usually notice that sort of a difference in a game. Playing Halo online, you very seldom notice that this tree doesn't look as pretty as a tree in Crysis. Yes, it does enhance the game to have such graphics, but not enough to REALLY matter in the overall gameplay. Notice, most sites didn't even give Crysis as good of a review as they did Halo 1.

Fcky, that's the point. In order to play the game, the way it was meant to be played, you'd have to upgrade the computer. If you built a computer 3 years ago that was strong enough to play Oblivion, but didn't pay out the ear to future proof it, then you would have had to upgrade you comp, in order to play Fallout 3(even though the difference in graphics isn't huge).

And Falco, where did you get THAT info? Considering even my junker GPU can run Crysis on the low settings XD

Just look at the RAW graphics power that is available to us, 3x GTX285s/ 2x 4870x2s/ 2x GTX295s/ 2x 4890s. Its absolutely friggin crazy. Yet there are, what, 1 or 2 games that can take advantage of that power.

Its a bloody shame I tell you. If I don't see cinematic realism in video games before I die, I will be astronomically pissed and may carpet bomb a few Sony and certain Microsoft fabs.

this thread kinda kicked off again didnt it, but has gone a little off track sort of, say when the ps3 came out for example, you could of bought a 7900gt for a similar price to put in you pc providing you had a recent pc to begin with and play those same games at the same level probably beter and customize it to your taste, if you still had that hardware now, you can still play the new titles for ps3 eg cod waw the same or better than the console. gamers upgrade there pc an average of every 6 months because they like to have the best no because they have to . its not like its suddenly becomes obsolete they just want to upgrade it is addictive and those subliminal messages on game startups dont help :P

Don't get me wrong. I love both Cosole and PC gaming(thus why I'm upgrading the PC). I simply disagree with this "Holier Than Thou" attitiude most PC gamers have towards Consoles. Heck, look at the PS2. If you bought one when it came out, and took good care of it, it would easily last 5 years(mine has lasted even longer XD). And, from the Ps2's creation, all the way to now, as they STILL make games for it, that same system still doesn't need an upgrade. That is a HUGE leg up on the PC gamer, who would have had to upgrade at LEAST once. Sure, the PS2's graphics aren't anywhere near the PC's, but the PS2 has a LOT of the best games out right now.

I am going to have to agree with you. Crysis looks kick ass at very high graphics. Also, Halo 3 has some crappy graphics compared to crysis. Its physics engine just sucks and the rending engine used is not good either. Crysis looks far better than Halo 3 on High and in some cases on medium.

consoles can handle high resolutions but PCs can handle a lot higher resolutions, i have always wondered if you can switch out a console's cpu with like say my q6600 and make it faster but i dont think you can. I think PC games look better than console games and they probably are because with PC games you pretty much have no limit you can add more coding for better graphics because you have like TBs worth of space and on dual layer DVDs you only have like 9GB or blurays 50GB.
