You're looking at this wrong. Any modern PC is computationally more powerful than the latest consoles that are out. A console like the PS3 is going to have games that look better for a while because the developers just have to make a game that runs well on ONE gpu. Think about all the different gpu's, API's, OS's, etc. that most PC game developers have to keep in mind when writing their code.
Also, think of all the things you can do with your PC that are either impractical or impossible to do on a console. I would much rather have an entry level PC than any console. Don't get me wrong, I own and play several consoles and a Nintendo DS, both formats have their own strengths and weaknesses.

PS3=7800GTX
360=HD 2900GT (remember the 2900gt performed like a x1950) So in modern cards, a 9600GSO or a 4670 would be much better than either one, but consoles are way more efficient. I have a ps3 and a pc and like both.

It's all about practicality, if you want to have the capability to do more than just play games, then get a PC. Xbox/PS3 can't make home videos or run photoshop...
Sorry to all the console fanboys, but the truth is, a PC can and will always outperform consoles. Even with HDTV, the highest resolution they have is 1080p, while the newest monitors have 1900x1200 capability. Even my 19" has a highest res of 1680x1050, higher than any HD tv... the higher resolution will always make things look sharper, crisper, and better. It's just how it is... granted yes, you may have to upgrade every couple of years, but look at it this way: Brand new 360/PS3 game: $60 Brand new PC game: $50 Let's say you buy 20 games over the course of two years (it is a lot, yes..), the extra $200 bucks your saving could easily be used to buy a new GPU which will allow you to play newer games. It boils down to preference with practicality. So El Gappo, I suppose to answer your question, your current rig is more powerful than the 360 and PS3. However much you've spent on yoru computer is how much it costs to make it more powerful than console.

Theres a reason why I hardly play Xbox anymore. Consoles are simplified versions of a PC. Easy as that. Thats why the cost is lower, and also its performance. They found a niche in the market and they make money of it. A console is solely for entertainment.
Discussing whether a console is more powerful than a PC or not, is pointless IMO. I'd take my rig over a console any day. And the games look better on it.

Last time I checked Folding wouldn't give me the more complicated projects if ur systems were better.
And yes i can photo/video edit AND all your Ps3 graphic card specs are wrong But you cant really compare this stuff to a Ps3 cuz of the processor being so wack and complicated
