I have upgraded video cards without having to uninstall drivers. Keep in mind, these were all ATI chips. I don't know if that flies with Nvidia.

OK, I can't find anything on your mobo, but is your current card a PCI-e x16 card?
Also, I have never had to uninstall video drivers when staying with the same brand (ATI to ATI or Nvidia to Nvidia). I have had to when changing brands though (Via onboard to Nvidia PCI-e).

yea you don't have to reinstall when the current drivers recognize the card. He has a x1550 so most likely he has some old drivers made 2 years that won't recognize the 4670.

It has not been said yet but is really important.
Turn off the Computer before taking out the video card, and putting the new one in.

I recommend using the latest catalyst drivers as they are a package and have compatibility with almost every ATI card ever made. I can't give you the exact link because I can't hotlink it and also I don't know what OS you are using. Let me know what OS you are using and I will tell you all you need to know.
