i say go with an amd 790fx chipset with 2 4890s. You wont need much more than that.

for amd motherboards to run sli you need an nvidia chipset, I just got a foxconn destroyer, and so far its great. had 3.6ghz stable right off the bat by adjusting the multi.
Good board, especially with x2 GTX 275 in it (or will be when I get a more stable PSU)
That x4 955 chip is fantastic!
By the way,[S]

this statement is wrong My bad Afrodisiac is right, speaking in ref to those boards

You really dont need any specific cooling for your Graphics, just get some good 90+cfm fans and put them in a breathable case, and you'll be fine

well
they are all very solid GPU's
if you want to go for BEST gaming, the TRISLI 285 would b good.
if u like AMD, get the 4890's

ATI
-cheaper
-fast

Nvidia
-lil more $$$
-faster
-better drivers (IMO)
-FOLD BETTER

You just made me so mad that all the blood literally just rushed to my head. Please reread my post.

That being said, the 790FX is the best chipset for Phenom II right now, and I recommend you go with the MSI GD70 790FX board (which has around 4 PCI-E slots). That way you can get triple 4890s.

Also, the 790FXT-UD5P and the MSI GD70 are AM3/DDR3 boards, which means you can only put AM3 CPUs in them, like the Phenom II X4 955, and they only support DDR3 memory.
Tell me where in this post did I say that the Phenom II X4 955 does not support DDR2/AM2+, and please point out any incorrect information in that post.

If you re-read what afrodesiac said "Also, the 790FXT-UD5P and the MSI GD70 are AM3/DDR3 boards, which means you can only put AM3 CPUs in them, like the Phenom II X4 955, and they only support DDR3 memory." he is correct. you cant put an am2/am2+ in an am3 board because there is no ddr2 ram and there is more pins on the cpu then the board will take. you can however put an am3 processor in an am2/am2+ board.
