Tell me where in this post did I say that the Phenom II X4 955 does not support DDR2/AM2+, and please point out any incorrect information in that post.
I stand corrected, after re-reading, your right....fixed it.....that doesn't happen to me often

I would go 3x 4890's because they are the best bang for the buck GPU's IMO. This is coming from a long time Nvidia fanboy and I just switched to ATI a couple weeks ago.

Ok, I've decided to stick with single GPU's, and I'm going with the ATI Radeon HD 4890 =D

I'm unsure which one to purchase though... looking here:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...adeon+HD+4890+
There are many potential brands selling the same thing, which is better? It looks as if its a toss up between DIAMOND and ASUS. I really dont konw though, suggestions?

Noahmateen1234, thanks for that it gives me a world of confidence to here you say that, cause I've allways been an nvidia lover myself =P this is going to be my first run with ATI =D

So what is the difference between all those cards being sold under different names? Have they just been 'clocked' a little by their company, given a different image and thats it?

AMD + Multiple cards = ATI all the way. Nvidia boards for AMD are nothing but trouble.

I'd go with the Gigabyte 790FX board and just get 2 4890s. 1 4870 at 1920x1080 is enough for everything for me, even crysis at Very High but no AA.

me, linux, and ati have had a total of 3 bad experiences, on 3 different ati cards. because of that, im done with ati for life. im a nvidia/intel whore because nvidia makes open source linux drivers where as ati.... doesnt.

Honestly you will have NOTHING requiring 3 4890's in crossfire, 2 of them alone will handle anything you can throw at them.

The different brands are all different companies. Essentially they're selling the same card, you can overclock it the same amount, the power of each individual card is the same, but each company offers differing warranties, some will change the cooling system, and a lot of them will tweak the clocks like you said.

XFX is a good brand to buy from because of their solid warranties. If you live outside the US I would recommend Palit as well, as I've never had a problem with their RMA service and like the coolers they include.
