Default fps drop

ok i dont know if you guys heard of this but i play a game called counter-strike and when i used to play with Windows XP it was running fine. I just installed Vista and updated all the drivers but i dont get 100fps anymore.

i have a nVidia 7800GT and 1.5g RAM with Dell Intel 4 processor.
can someone tell me why the game wont run as good as it used to?

Vista's Aero utilizes your graphic card while XP doesn't utilize your graphic card as much as Vista.

Vista uses a bit more of your graphics card so you well see an FPS drop in games. You don't even see a difference between 60 fps and 100 fps anyway.

Use Aero Basic, it will turn off 3d acceleration of the desktop. You can find it under Display Properties. Should speed things up a bit.

Unless your monitor displays higher (and seeing as you think you have a dell processor, I'm confident your monitor does not) you feel no such thing.
